ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT FOR HOLTON PRIMARY SCHOOL

This website is run by Holton Primary School (https://www.holtonps.co.uk/) supported by Innovative IT Solutions. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

​

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts

  • zoom in up to 400 per cent without the text spilling off the screen

  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard

  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software

  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

 

We have also made the website text as simple as possible to understand and are committed to making further improvements to the way we describe our information and services.

How accessible is this website?

​

An accessibility widget has been added to the right-hand corner of the website. This will allow the user to highlight the title, highlight links, change the font weight, Dyslexia font, letter spacing, line height, different colour adjustments, reading guide and provides a large cursor.

The website is built on the latest content management system, is fully responsive, and is built in accordance with the WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards.

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. For example:

  • some of the colours used do not meet colour contrast requirements

  • most documents do not meet accessibility standards

  • some hyperlinks are only identified by colour

  • we use some images of text

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

Use of documents

​

  • Various documents are in use on this website, including PDFs and Word documents. These are not all currently accessible. If documents are required, we are aiming to make these as accessible as possible, including using appropriate heading styles and meeting colour contrast requirements.

Please get in touch if there are any documents that you are not able to access and we will provide the information in a different format.

Links are only identified by colour

  • At times, only colour is used to differentiate hyperlinks from the rest of the page text. Hyperlink styling will be reviewed.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • All images that are added are now all given a text alternative. Some older images may not have this alt text so people using a screen reader may not be able to access this older content.

  • We will aim to review all old images and add text alternatives before our next review in April 2026.

 

How we tested this website

This was a self-assessment done by Innovative IT Solutions Web Team using a browser extension tool Silktide.

Different combinations of devices and browsers are regularly used in our website testing.

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We're doing our best to try fix the issues outlined above. We monitor the accessibility compliance of our site and improving our site is part of the Web Team's daily work.

  • We have controls in place to make sure that all new content published on the website complies with the accessibility regulations.
