At Holton Primary School we aim to support both the children in our care and their families, as we create a Community Focused Schools approach to education.  The Cynefin Caffi sits at the heart of our school, this is a haven where families can get a hot drink, grab a snack, use our pay-as-you-feel grocery shop or speak with someone in privacy and comfort.  We pride ourselves on the open, warm and inclusive atmosphere. The Cynefin Caffi has become a great place to connect families with outside agencies, who can guide them through periods of challenge and change.  We regularly host Citizens Advice, Pobl housing support and a range of adult and families learning courses which include 'English for Speakers of other Languages' and 'Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths' courses.  

 

Alongside all of this, we support families with grant applications for various household items such as white goods, households bills and shopping.  The caffi was established to help us meet the needs of our community, provide a safe space and establish a sense of belonging - since opening in September 2023 it has become so much more than this, for our whole school community. The work of our staff, our learners and our volunteers, in the caffi, provided a tremendous platform for us to be recognised as the first primary school in the Vale of Glamorgan to be of Sanctuary accreditation.
